Le Festival's Christmas in July Marché

Noël, Noël…. Has arrived… a few months early!

Prepare yourself for festive frivolity once again, as Le Festival’s French Market is back in July, but with a ‘Christmas in July’ – ‘a la française’! Just in time to celebrate Bastille Day with you!

Le Festival’s “Christmas in July” French Market will be ‘decking the halls’ in Brisbane – or should we say, ‘deck the lawns’ – on July 23rd and 24th at Roma St Parklands!

This festive market has been specially curated for you to embrace the festive spirit in July as we celebrate France’s National Day! Bringing together a wide array of French and French-inspired creators and businesses, a French Bar, entertainment, an artist and artisan corner, an authors’ corner, and much more (but we do not want to spoil everything just yet), we hope to create a warm, joyful atmosphere, and enjoy the freedom to be together once again.

We are incredibly excited to see you all again and come together in this perfect way to embrace the festive spirit – in more ways than one!

Christmas in July Marché: two-day overview

french christmas market brisbane

Stalls are what make a market, a market! The main area of our Marché de Noël will comprise a specially selected array of 12 stalls, showcasing unique talent and quality French or French-inspired products from local creators and from France. There will also be a dedicated area for eight French or French-inspired artists and artisans to share their craft.

Discover French-inspired creativity and find the perfect Christmas gift you were looking for.

French Bar

A French Christmas market is never without some sort of mulled wine; at least in France. But not in Australia.

Our French bar will offer a selection of refreshing French red and white wines, Champagnes, Rose Sparkling, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy after shopping as you embrace the ambience.

Make sure you find some time to stop by the bar so we can wish you a “Joyeux Noël“!

artists' and artisan corner

Our Marché de Noël will also have a dedicated artists’ corner. This will be an area to showcase creativity and illuminate originality at its best.

The artist’s corner will offer a chance to both explore and immerse yourself in a little bit of French Christmas culture.

All of these will also be local creators. At Le Festival, we very much support local businesses, so we are giving their talent a chance to shine.

festive entertainment

A Christmas Market is also not the same without some festive melodies! Entertainment and music are what create that warm atmosphere we love.

We will have a two groups of choirs and performers to provide festive cheer for you will you shop. With their harmonious talents and joyous tunes, they will really make it feel like Christmas!

Getting There

  • 'Green Travel': Cycling, eScooters, and Walking

You can use the main bikeway, Normanby Cycleway Link, to access the Parkland, then ride all the way along Parkland Boulevard, and out onto Roma Street. Note that once in the Parkland, all pathways and roads are shared with pedestrians, so take care; and the only space bicycles are not permitted is the Spectacle Garden (Colin Campbell Place). There are also bike racks located at The Hub, and a cycle maintenance station on the Normanby Bikeway (intersection with Parkland Boulevard and Parkland Crescent), if you wish to park your bike while you visit.

Of course, if you are within close distance, you can also choose to walk, for which there are many route options.

  • Public Transport

Roma St Parkland is conveniently located next to the Roma Street bus and train station, and Brisbane Coach Terminal (access via lower ground level), so you can catch a bus or train easily – head to Translink to plan your journey.

  • Driving (and Parking)

There are several carpark locations throughout, and adjacent to, the Parkland.
Nearly 200 on-street parking spaces (including 8 disabled parking bays) can be found within the Parkland, located at College Close Car Park and along Parkland Boulevard. You can find information and rates on the Brisbane City Council website.
If you would prefer to park undercover, the closest carpark is located under the Parkland Apartments residential building, which can be accessed via Parkland Crescent. Please note that parking here is limited, and fees vary. Visit the Cornerstone parking page for information.
Two public undercover carparks are also located about a 15-minute walk away from the Parkland: The Barracks Carpark (Secure Parking) and King George Square public carpark (Brisbane City Council). Visit Secure Parking or King George Square Car Park for details.

  • Taxi and Rideshare

The closest taxi rank is located at the Brisbane Coach Terminal – simply ask your driver to drop you off or collect you on Parkland Boulevard (entry via Wickham Terrace or Roma Street).
