New Caledonia, a bit of France less than two hours from Brisbane

A wealth of culture, spectacular natural scenery, jaw-droppingly beautiful islands, and a unique fusion of French and Melanesian culture. It is these elements that make New Caledonia one of the true jewels of the South Pacific.

Nouméa has built its Pacific identity through a fusion of cultures and styles. This cultural diversity is reflected not only on your plate, but also in the architecture and the attractions found throughout its streets. Being the true artistic heart of the country, Nouméa is home to a significant concentration of museums, art galleries, theatres, and cinemas. With so much to see, do, experience, and discover, it is easy to soak up the heritage of the city.

Zack Redfern – Sales Executive

Zack first travelled to New Caledonia in 2012 exploring Nouméa and the south-east region of Grande Terre (New Cal’s main island) – it’s safe to say it was love at first sight! Since then he’s travelled extensively throughout all four regions of New Caledonia and to the untouched island of Ouvéa. Zack joined Aircalin and New Caledonia Tourism in 2017 as the Sales Executive for NSW. An average work day for Zack is spent sharing his passion for New Cal with travel trade partners and consumers alike. His top travel tips – branch out and explore! Rent a car and discover Grande Terre’s diverse regions or take a short flight and flop & drop on the outer islands. If city vibes are more your style visit Nouméa’s many bars and watch the world go by whilst sipping on a glass of Veuve Clicquot.

Christophe Gregoire – French chef who has worked in and organises trips to New Caledonia.
